TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Roma 8:3-5

Konteks
8:3 For God achieved what the law could not do because 1  it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 8:4 so that the righteous requirement of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

8:5 For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by 2  the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.

Matius 5:17-19

Konteks
Fulfillment of the Law and Prophets

5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish these things but to fulfill them. 3  5:18 I 4  tell you the truth, 5  until heaven and earth pass away not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter 6  will pass from the law until everything takes place. 5:19 So anyone who breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others 7  to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever obeys them and teaches others to do so will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

[8:3]  1 tn Grk “in that.”

[8:5]  2 tn Grk “think on” or “are intent on” (twice in this verse). What is in view here is not primarily preoccupation, however, but worldview. Translations like “set their mind on” could be misunderstood by the typical English reader to refer exclusively to preoccupation.

[5:17]  3 tn Grk “not come to abolish but to fulfill.” Direct objects (“these things,” “them”) were frequently omitted in Greek when clear from the context, but have been supplied here to conform to contemporary English style.

[5:18]  4 tn Grk “For I tell.” Here an explanatory γάρ (gar) has not been translated.

[5:18]  5 tn Grk “Truly (ἀμήν, amhn), I say to you.”

[5:18]  6 tn Grk “Not one iota or one serif.”

[5:18]  sn The smallest letter refers to the smallest Hebrew letter (yod) and the stroke of a letter to a serif (a hook or projection on a Hebrew letter).

[5:19]  7 tn Grk “teaches men” ( in a generic sense, people).
